Just had an outstanding experience at Rodβs Steakhouse in Morristown, NJ. From the moment you walk in, the place has a classic, almost old-world feelβthe stained glass ceiling and chandelier alone are worth the visit, and the rich woodwork and balcony seating give it a really unique, upscale atmosphere without feeling stuffy. The staff was just as impressiveβattentive, quick, and genuinely fun, which made the whole night even better. As for the food, it absolutely delivered. Everything was cooked perfectly and easily justified the price point. Itβs not cheap, but itβs priced right for the quality, the experience, and the overall vibe. This is one of those places where youβre not just going out to eatβyouβre getting the full experience. Highly recommend.

Rod's was gracious enough to host the Denville Girl Scouts annual Spring Tea-vening event this year in their train car parlors. It was an incredible experience for all. Our Girls and volunteers that were our "Kitchen Staff" thoroughly enjoyed working with Chef Gustavo. He was so nice and so patient with all the our volunteers. Our Girls that served as our wait staff had a great time and were thankful for the provided table maps. The food was delicious and everyone who came (over 100 people between attendees and volunteers staff) commented how beautiful the place is. One of our younger Scouts also commented that she wished trains still looked like this because it's so much better than the new boring ones you have to travel on these days. The Madison Manager Nancy and Catering Manager Joe were absolutely a joy with which to work. We cannot thank them enough for their hospitality and the amazing ambiance and delicious food for our event.

Disappointing experience for the price β ambience and service fell flat My wife and I chose Rodβs Steakhouse in Morristown to celebrate our 6-month anniversary, expecting a higher-end, polished dining experience. Unfortunately, for a $300+ night out, it just didnβt deliver. From the start, things felt a little off. Valet was technically there, but the attendant was sitting inside the restaurant, so we ended up parking ourselves. Not the end of the world, but not what you expect from a place trying to present itself as upscale and premium. When we walked in, it appeared there was some very brief confusion finding our reservation. We were seated fairly quickly, but again, it didnβt feel smooth or confident. The hostess kept searching for a table almost as if one wasnt put aside, at one point another hostess asked βoh do they need a table for twoβ After sitting down, menus were handed out and a girl came by to pour tap water. Then our waiter arrivedβand this is where the experience really started to slide. The waiter seemed completely uninterested. No welcome, no acknowledgment that we were celebrating anything, no reading of specials, no attempt at engagement or personality. It h

The burrata appetizer was superb. Shrimp cocktail was just a little bit tough. Prime rib was very good. Just a few bites of tough pieces. Filet mignon was pretty tender, but just a little bitter with a charred taste. Lobster tail was only three stars. A little disappointing since it was quite tough and a bit hard to separate from the shell. Also, I believe that the drawn butter was actually margarine, which does not taste nearly as good as butter. Restaurants of this caliber should serve drawn butter. The cheesecake was fantastic. Fyi, we went on a Thursday evening, and the dress was quite casual. There were several people in jeans. No need to get dressed up unless it's for a special occasion. Ambiance was a little bit louder than I expected in such an expensive restaurant. And this place is extremely expensive. Our bill, for 2, was in the vicinity of $250. We had appetizers and dessert, but no alcohol.

For the appetizer, I had shrimp and crab. Its was pretty mediocre. The main course I went for was the surf and turf. The lobster was okay but the steak was dry even though it was medium rare. I was asked about the side so I got the asparagus. They charge extra if you want a side with any of your meals... I ended up with basic ice cream for desert. Overall, the services and atmosphere was amazing but the food was just okay. Not worth the extensive price tag. Total after tax and before tip was $113 for 2 shrimp, a half cup of crab with lettuce, a lobster tail, a good amount of asparagus, a 6oz filet and 2 scoops of ice cream.
